Polish, Lithuanian Presidents discuss energy summit preparations

Polish and Lithuanian Presidents, Lech Kaczynski and Valdas Adamkus, discussed on Monday preparations for a planned energy summit in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania.

"Forecasts for the conference are very good," Adamkus told reporters after the meeting in Torun, northern Poland.

"We are trying to enlarge the number of participants in the conference compared to the earlier meeting in Cracow (southern Poland). While in New York, I have talked with President George Bush as well as presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan ..." Adamkus was quoted as saying by Polish PAP news agency.

Lech Kaczynski stressed that organizing the summit, both countries are trying to assure the presence of representatives of Asian countries which have a large potential of raw energy materials.

In May of this year, the first energy summit, initiated by Kaczynski, was held in Cracow. Presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakstan's vice-minister in charge of the sources of energy attended the conference.
